A CELEBRATION OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A WOMAN. This new series will explore why the human pelvis is the most fascinating and controversial bone in the human body.

So, just what exactly is an 'e-model'? An 'e-model' is a woman who contributes a series of digital photographs of her pelvis, along with a short message about the impact that her pelvis (or hips) have had in shaping her into the woman she is today. This contribution can be completely anonymous or identified to whatever level she is comfortable with. The 'e-model' format allows for infinite diversity of participants without geographic limitations. We invite contributions from women of all ages, shapes, sizes and countries.

What is the purpose? I want to reach out to women who want to share their physical image by participating in a global collaborative project. In other words 'citizen' created art. Aside from the visual aspect of this project, I want to provide an opportunity for women to articulate the impact their pelvis has had in shaping who they are as a woman. I leave the content open to each individual as to what she wishes to impart.

How can I collaborate? Just take digital images of your pelvis in the format described below. Use the Upload Images button to upload up to 6 files. Then include at your discretion, your personal message about you and your pelvis.

So what's the end goal? The end goal is to curate and exhibit an ongoing web-gallery of images submitted by you, the e-models, to serve as a compliment to the other aspects of this body of work. The "gallery of pelvises" will represent women from all walks of life, all over the world, of all shapes, sizes, forms, ethnicities and ages. This project is meant to be inclusive and comprehensive. The format will follow the manner and layout of this page showing the model's photo, notations of waist/ hip measurements and small note about your hips

Participation Guidelines:

Please click the e-model uploader form to send your images, text and other details.

:: Images: Please photograph your hip from the front, 3/4 and side. You can submit up to 6 digital images. Please see shooting guidelines below.

:: Text: In the designated field of the e-model uploader form, please type or paste your words describing your relationship with your pelvis. If English is not your native language, please write your essay in your native language (along with an English translation, if possible).

:: Waist and hip measurements: In the designated fields of the e-model uploader form, you'll need to enter your waist and hip measurement. To be accurate, please measure your waist with a measuring tape at the narrowest point of your torso and your hip at the widest point around your bottom. Tension should be firm but not pulled so tightly as to compress the skin underneath.  Remember, dont get hung up on the numbers. it's the ratio that counts.

Shooting Guidelines:
:: Please shoot images in horizontal format (landscape).

:: Please shoot images against a white or neutral background, i.e. a blank wall; not your kitchen.

:: Please shoot images with your hands and arms away from your body to make the pelvis is the main subject.
