PHYSICAL AND METAPHYSICAL

  • The pelvis is the largest bone in the human body.
  • It is symmetrical.
  • It is constructed stronger than the wall of the cranium (skull).
  • The pelvis can be a region or a bone or a cavity or a combination of these.
  • The pelvic girdle consists of paired hipbones, connected in front at the pubic symphysis and behind by the sacrum.
  • The pelvis is the only bone in the body that is gender specific.
  • The size and shape of these bones have a tremendous impact on how a woman physically looks.
  • Pelvic expression is not so easy to define. It relates to both the width across to the upper bony flange (the ilium), the head of the upper thigh bone (the femur), and the fatty deposits that cover them. Women vary considerably in these measurements, and they are often disproportionate.
  • Apple, pear or straight? You don’t have a choice; you’re born that way. These are genetically determined at conception and are unchangeable.
  • Athletic women tend to have narrower pelves.
  • Shorter women, as a rule, have broad pelves.
  • The female pelvis is more fragile than the male. It is also thinner, lighter and generally less robust.
  • The size of the pelvis varies not only in the two sexes, but also in different members of the same sex.
  • It is shaped somewhat like a propeller, or a fan blade, with its own axis- the spine.
  • It can also be said that the pelvis is shaped like a butterfly.
  • It holds the body’s center of gravity. When standing, the center of gravity falls over the centre of the body, and the weight is transmitted via the pelvis from the backbone to the thighbones, knees, and feet.
  • The moving relationships between the pelvis and the ribcage determine our balance and mobility in virtually every activity we do.
  • It affects a person’s posture and stance if their pelvis is tucked under or swings back, or positioned perpendicular to the floor. It also affects how a person walks through space.
  • It protects the body’s vital reproductive organs making the pelvis to the womb, what the rib cage is to the heart.
  • In Italian, the pelvis is called il bacino, or the bowl. The pelvis, or bowl, supports the intestines, urinary bladder, and internal sex organs.
  • Metaphysically, the Kundalini, or the chakra of fire, is located in the lower basin of the pelvis. The Kundalini governs sexuality and creativity. It is engaged when we do art.

EVOLUTION, CONTROVERSY AND POLITICS

  • The “wings” of the pelvis tend to vary greatly between the races.
  • Africans and Asians tend to have less wing than Europeans.
  • Hitler and other eugenicists of his time  believed that Aryan women had wider hips in order to give birth to babies with larger heads. They attempted to link hip width, skull size and intelligence to their “master race” theory.
  • Modern science does not support this fallacy.
  • There have been recent studies that suggest that mothers who have very low wait/ hip ratios also have higher levels of Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids are stored in a woman’s hips. These fatty acids are essential to fetal brain development. Low levels of Omega-3 fatty acids have been implicated in contributing to ADD, depression, anxiety disorders, aggression, hypertension, etc.
  • The pelvises of today are a byproduct of natural selection.
  • A pivotal moment in mankind’s evolutionary history was when humans became bipedal. As a result of standing upright, the entire female pelvic architecture had to be redesigned. These alternations may have included reduction in the gestation period from 11 months to the present 9 months.
  • Habitual bipedalism is so special and rare. Humans and birds participate in it...and that's it.
  • Diversity of female pelvic form is the key to the successful evolution of the human race.
  • Controlling the pelvis is the battleground for reproductive rights, which continues to this day.
  • The 1972 landmark US Supreme Court decision of Roe vs. Wade gave American women the right to “choose” for themselves. The nation has been split down the middle into two camps ever since: pro- life vs. pro- choice.
  • It has been said that if you can control a woman’s pelvis, you control the woman; ultimately deciding who gets to be born and who doesn’t.

MEDICAL

  • The characteristic differences between the male and female pelvis are distinctly apparent as early as the fourth month of fetal life.
  • Relaxin hormones generated around the 34th week during pregnancy tell the pelvis to literally fall apart to allow the baby’s head to pass through the birth canal.
  • 0.70 is universally considered the “golden” pelvic ratio. It means that the waist is 30% smaller than the hip.
  • It is proven that men are genetically programmed to find women who have the golden waist hip ratio (WHR) more sexually attractive.
  • The pelvis is the only bone that has an obvious erogenous character.
  • Women, whose bodies have a typical gynoid or hyper-gynoid pelvic expression (low WHR), are flooded with Estrogen. Estrogen is critical in sexual and reproductive health. Estrogen is often called the female sex hormone.
  • Women tend to carry their weight either above the waist or below the waist. It is always healthier to carry weight below the waist.
  • Those that have a WHR of 0.70 or less have very little chance of getting coronary heart disease, high blood pressure or stroke.
  • Those who have a higher ratio (who carry their weight above their waist) increase their chances of having heart disease by 3 fold. Heart disease is the #1cause of death in women over 40 in the US and UK.
